Independence Day

Maximum Speed and Violence is shifting to a "whenever" update schedule as of today. Additionally, there will be no further updates on the Tapastic mirror.

As some of you are aware of, my stories aren't pulled out of thin air--there is a tinge of the autobiographical in all of my characters. So it should not be a huge surprise that like Tona and Eric, I recently had a child. As a result I don't have the time to do everything I want to.

MSV is grand fun and I love your comments, but this work is not expanding my abilities as an artist or a storyteller--in some ways, it could be seen an exercise in procrastination. While I will continue to update it from time to time, my heart lies elsewhere, and elsewhere is where my efforts will be applied. I hope you will join me there.

Happy Independence Day...

Any hope I have for turning out decent artwork rests in my descendants... and thus I must leave them something worth reading that doesn't rely on pictures of butts and jokes about casual murder.

I believe this is the downright happiest we've seen Tona for a while.

And though you may have heard this, I would like to go on public record: congratulations, Mr. Dad-type guy!

Independence Day shouldn't be an ossified tribute to the ideals of the past, but a time to consider the future in that same spirit.

Sure, Tona is pretty miserable today. But to quote from something that I'm sure only the raggedly aged among y'all might remember, "tomorrow is another day".

ah the fourth of july - that happy event which, despite all the fighting and propaganda on behalf of vested interests, allowed both sides of the pond to grow and prosper in their own ways

congratulations on becoming a dad

if there is a secret of life its 'prioritize'

Prioritization is indeed tremendously important! Know what you must have and then go out and get it with maximum speed and yeah...

I appreciate all my subscribers a great deal (even MadJak) but you, Centcomm... it's very flattering to have you here, there, or at any work of mine.

BTW, I came to the realization this morning that "Tokyo Rose" doesn't exist--I am on to your secret!

Sweet drawing Lirvilas.
I love the matching belly button piercing.

So, congrats on the little one. Did you have a son or daughter?

While I'm sad to see MSV slow down, I enjoyed the ride.
Looking forward to your more "serious" endeavours.

Can't won't shan't talk about details of the family.

Because you are all wumao agents and I've already said too much.

Especially you, RD Ashes, with your keen eye for the little details that make certain characters so much fun to draw.

Definitely a spy.

There is nothing like being under a weeping gray sky four thousand miles from America to lend poignancy to the Fourth.

God damn I miss home.

And yes, Frettle, the second that I start getting flak from paid commenters from the PRC is when I know I've made it into the Big Leagues... that won't be anytime soon.

"...I recently had a child." That musta hoit.

Congrats buddy, your little one is gonna have a hell of a funny dad (or mom; you can never tell on the interweb. For all we know, Centcomm could be a boy...). If you were up here in Canada, we could have shared some Cohibas - totally legal up here... lol

-Yeah yeah, the spouse had the child, I just got to run logistics support. Thank god I have an above average paternity leave/vacation program at my workplace, because the spouse sure needed/needs the assistance.

-Centcomm is in fact a computer program, not a person.

-Totally legal and hella expensive. However, if they're as good or better than the third-rate stuff they ship out to uh conflict zones then they're worth it.

Thank you.

I originally started up Volume 2 in March 2014 because there was a serious question as to whether the spouse and I were going to have children at all, and I didn't want to go crumbling into dust without at least attempting to leave something in this world. It's therefore bittersweet that the very obvious collapse of my free hours has come about because of my brand new progeny. Wouldn't have it any other way, though.

Yes I use this comments space as a makeshift blog.

I really appreciate all the comments from everyone, and given some time this weekend, I'll see what I can do art-wise to reward your attentions.

Also, I just want to say damn I love the composition of this splash page. This is Tona at her nadir: penniless, a ruined reputation, and without so much as one inch of inseam. And yet she can find a reason to smile. And so can you.

What Tona does next will turn your stomachs and make you question why you ever started reading Let It Ride.
